HKN / IEEE Officer's Lounge
About the HKN / IEEE Lounge
Officers of HKN and IEEE have access to the HKN / IEEE Lounge in Zachry. The room is located next to the crystal palace in Zachry, on the first floor.
Students who are general members of HKN and/or IEEE unfortunately do not have access to the lounge. Only special events throughout the year will require that non-officers utilize the lounge.
FAQ about the Lounge
Q: What is the HKN / IEEE Lounge?
A: The lounge is an old custodial closet in Zachry where HKN and IEEE officers hold their meetings and keep necessary chapter supplies and documents.
Q: I'm a member of both HKN and IEEE, why can't I use the lounge to study?
A: At this time, you may only access the lounge while accompanied by an HKN or IEEE officer. The lounge holds many sensitive documents and items which should not be exposed to the public. The nature of IEEE's membership would effectively open the lounge to every ECE student at Texas A&M, which would be a security concern to both organizations and their respective members.
Q: What's the password for the lounge?
A: Only the officers of HKN and IEEE know the keypad password to the lounge.
Q: I'm just curious... what do you guys keep in there?
A: T-shirt inventory, documents and forms, IEEE computer servers, awards and plaques, old pictures of HKN members from the 1980s wearing their too-short shorts, and the occasional government secret.
Q: I wish all HKN members had a perk like a special study room in Zachry, is any progress being made towards that?
A: Unique and special opportunities for HKN members are actively being discussed and reviewed with the ECE department. Please email president@hkn.tamu.edu if you have more specific interests or insights regarding these ideas.
